SUMMARY:4th GPU Hackathon at Princeton (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:4th GPU Hackathon at Princeton (Virtual event)June 1\, 2022 (Prep day)June 6-8\, 2022 (Main event)Contact: Ma. Florevel (Floe) Fusin-Wischusen (floe@princeton.edu)https://gpuhackathons.org/event/princeton-gpu-hackathon-2022 \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDETAILS: \n\n\n\nGraphics Processing Units (GPUs) offer high performance andmassive parallelization\, but learning how to program GPUs forscientific applications can be daunting. \n\n\n\nTo help reduce the barrier to entry\, Princeton will host its4th annual GPU hackathon\, organized and sponsored by NVIDIA\,Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF)\, andPrinceton Institute for Computational Science & Engineering(PICSciE). \n\n\n\nInterested research groups should apply to send a small teamof 3-6 developers who will be paired with experiencedmentors from industry and national laboratories in order tohelp migrate their code to GPUs and/or optimize codes alreadyrunning on GPUs. \n\n\n\nThe event will include a “prep day” of code profiling andpreliminaries followed by an intensive 3-day scrum. \n\n\n\n* Prior experience with programming GPUs is not required\, butparticipants will be encouraged to get an overview ofdifferent GPU programming paradigms prior to the hackathonvia training materials that will be provided in advance. \n\n\n\n* All fields are welcome\, from astrophysics tomachine learning to genomics. \n\n\n\n* Although Princeton and Princeton-area teams will be givenpriority\, a Princeton affiliation is not required\, so sharethis announcement to interested colleagues from neighboringinstitutions (partner GPU hackathons hosted in other parts ofthe US and the world are listed at gpuhackathons.org/events). \n\n\n\n* Prior hackathon participants are also welcome to apply butsuch teams should explicitly address in their applicationsthe additional value they hope to gain from attending thehackathon again. \n\n\n\n* Space is limited\, and applications will be reviewed forthe goodness of fit with the goals and resources of the hackathon(including the availability of appropriate mentors for agiven team). \n\n\n\n* Access to computing resources will be provided for theduration of the hackathon\, and there will be a virtualsocial event on one of the hackathon days.  \n\n\n\n* A guide for what to expect as an attendee can be found here: \n\n\n\nhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1OpFlrThkxHV40wDUObBczLeChXTizKcrltFJJgZuZdM/edit \n\n\n\nApply Now! \n\n\n\nAPPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY WEDNESDAY\, APRIL 13\, 2022for full consideration. \n\n\n\nOnce final teams are selected (by late April)\, the hackathonlanding page will be filled in with information includingadditional pre-event logistics. \n\n\n\nJunior Mentors Needed: \n\n\n\nIf you already have some GPU programming experience butdo not plan to submit an application\, and if you would likethe opportunity to spend a week working with and learning froma group of GPU experts\, email floe@princeton.edu.

SUMMARY:June Research Computing and Data CG Open call: NIH STRIDES Cloud Computing Initiative
DESCRIPTION:Please join the June Research Computing and Data CG Open Call. As a reminder\, our Open Calls are held on the 4th Thursday of every other month from 1-2 pm EST. Please come to share\, discuss\, learn\, and ask questions! Zoom connection and invitation download information can be found at the bottom.  \n\n\n\nThe presentation WILL be recorded. We will provide recording and slide information in the coming weeks. \n\n\n\nTitle: NIH STRIDES Cloud Computing Initiative \n\n\n\nWhen: June 23\, 2022 1:00 – 2:00 pm EST \n\n\n\nAs the NIH continues to add more cloud providers to the NIH STRIDES program\, interest in this service continues to grow among our research community. For our June Open call we have invited Nick Weber\, Program Manager\, Cloud Services & Program Lead\, NIH STRIDES Initiative\, to discuss how to take advantage of this program\, including what research support providers will need to consider as their institutions enroll in this program and how can integrate with existing cloud service resources and agreements. After Nick presents\, we will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss our own experiences integrating with and using NIH STRIDES resources. \n\n\n\nCall logistics: \n\n\n\nJoin Zoom Meeting \n\n\n\neducause.zoom.us/j/… \n\n\n\nMeeting ID: 957 6790 2435 \n\n\n\nPasscode: 945599 \n\n\n\nOne tap mobile \n\n\n\n+12532158782\,\,95767902435#\,\,\,\,*945599# US (Tacoma) \n\n\n\n+13462487799\,\,95767902435#\,\,\,\,*945599# US (Houston) \n\n\n\nDial by your location \n\n\n\n        +1 253 215 8782 US (Tacoma) \n\n\n\n        +1 346 248 7799 US (Houston) \n\n\n\n        +1 669 900 6833 US (San Jose) \n\n\n\n        +1 301 715 8592 US (Washington DC) \n\n\n\n        +1 312 626 6799 US (Chicago) \n\n\n\n        +1 929 205 6099 US (New York) \n\n\n\nMeeting ID: 957 6790 2435 \n\n\n\nPasscode: 945599 \n\n\n\nFind your local number: educause.zoom.us/u/amdg6UrUE
