SUMMARY:ERN All Hands Meeting 2023
DESCRIPTION:VIEW PRESENTATIONS FROM THIS EVENT\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Ecosystem for Research Networking (ERN) All Hands Meeting (AHM) gives the scientific and cyberinfrastructure research community an opportunity to come together and discuss ERN accomplishments\, successes\, and challenges related to projects\, collaborations and partnerships\, and ERN Working Groups’ efforts. There will be open discussions and conversations on collaboration opportunities\, future working groups\, funding opportunities\, focus areas and policies as they pertain to areas of community interest including the Big Data movement\, cybersecurity and protecting data\, research instruments\, applications for ERN\, education and training.  \n\n\n\nYour engagement  in these activities is important to the ERN community\, and why we strongly encourage you to attend in person.  To add to that encouragement\, we have travel expense assistance funds available through our NSF CC* CIRA grant  for on-site attendees who may have difficulty with covering travel costs.  To ensure the broadest community participation possible\, for those who simply are unable to attend in person\, we are offering a virtual option for the plenary presentations and a virtual break out session. We strongly encourage in-person attendance to receive the fullest experience\, enhance our discussions and explore new relationships with fellow researchers outside of the general meeting sessions. \n\n\n\nLocation: Audion at Star Campus:540 S College Ave\, Newark\, DE 19713 \n\n\n\nAgenda \n\n\n\n(all times are EDT) \n\n\n\nDay 1 \n\n\n\n8:00 – 8:30 Meet and Greet Breakfast \n\n\n\n9:00 – 10:30 Hands On Activities – Part 1 \n\n\n\n\nOverview – Bala Desinghu\,  Rutgers University\n\n\n\nOSN – Christopher Simmons\, MGHPCC\n\n\n\nPegasus – Mats Rynge\,  University of Southern California\n\n\n\n\n10:30 – 10:45 Break \n\n\n\n10:45 – Noon Hands On Activities – Part 2 \n\n\n\n\nFABRIC – Paul Ruth\,  University of North Carolina\, Chapel Hill\n\n\n\nERN Remote Instrumention demo –\n\nMaureen Dougherty\, Ecosystem for Research Networking\n\n\n\nJason Kaelber & Bala Desinghu\, Rutgers University\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNoon – 1:00 Lunch \n\n\n\n1:00 – 1:15 Welcome & Introductions \n\n\n\n1:15 – 1:30 Purpose of this AHM \n\n\n\n1:30 – 2:15  Keynote – Democratization of Research   \n\n\n\nSpeaker Alan Bletecky – The Missing Millions \n\n\n\n2:15 – 3:30 State of the ERN \n\n\n\n\nArchitecture and Federation\n\n\n\nBroadening the Reach\n\n\n\nStructural Biology\, Materials Discovery\, CS\, and Next Steps\n\n\n\n\n3:30 – 4:00 Break \n\n\n\n4:00 – 4:30 End of Day 1 Wrap-up \n\n\n\n5:30 – 7:00 Reception \n\n\n\nDay 2 \n\n\n\n8:00 – 9:00 Meet and Greet Breakfast \n\n\n\n9:00 – 9:15 Welcome and set tone for the rest of the morning \n\n\n\n9:15 – 10:15 Breakout Groups – Discussion Topics: Collaboration Opportunities\, Future Working Groups\, Funding opportunities\, Focus areas\, Policies \n\n\n\nBig Data movement\, Cybersecurity and Protecting Data\, Research Instruments\, Applications for ERN\, Education and Training \n\n\n\n10:15 – 10:45 Break \n\n\n\n10:45 – 11:30 Open Discussion – Summary of Breakout Groups \n\n\n\n11:30 – Noon Action items and Final Thoughts \n\n\n\nFeel free to extend this invitation to your colleagues in academia\, industry\, government and not for profit organizations who may benefit from the sessions and ERN collaboration. \n\n\n\nAny questions\, let us know via email at info@ern.ci. \n\n\n\nThank you\, \n\n\n\nThe ERN Steering Committee
